Tiger's built-in dictionary and Thesaurus.

I've got a few things to clear off the desktop (like work) before I try installing Tiger on my workhorse, so I don't really want to comment on too much beforehand. There is one feature I'd like to comment on before the press hits it and that is Tiger's built-in dictionary.

As of this posting, Apple US describes the dictionary at
http://www.apple.com/macosx/newfeatures/over200.html
as
Dictionary Application
Look up troublesome words in a new dictionary and thesaurus system application based on The New Oxford American Dictionary.

Apple.UK describes it as:
Dictionary Application
Look up troublesome words in a new dictionary and thesaurus system application.
http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/newfeatures/over200.html

So before the UK whiners start at it, (You know who you are. ;-) ) I'd like to ask.

What significant differences would there be between "The New Oxford American Dictionary" and any "The New Oxford English Dictionary?"

I personally don't care much as I travel about with the following dictionaries and between them can almost always find as much about a word as I'll need or could get from a dictionary.
- Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition On Cd-Rom Version 3.0
- American Heritage® Dictionary, 4th Edition with Thesaurus Version 2.0
Both of the above are OSX native applications.

Encyclopedia of the New Economy

http://hotwired.wired.com/special/ene/
This is Wired's 3 part series.
My first clicks were the Big Mac index, Coopetition, Education (definition: The ability to train yourself.)
So what is the new economy?
When we talk about the new economy, we're talking about a world in which people work with their brains instead of their hands. A world in which communications technology creates global competition - not just for running shoes and laptop computers, but also for bank loans and other services that can't be packed into a crate and shipped. A world in which innovation is more important than mass production. A world in which investment buys new concepts or the means to create them, rather than new machines. A world in which rapid change is a constant. A world at least as different from what came before it as the industrial age was from its agricultural predecessor. A world so different its emergence can only be described as a revolution.

How to manage smart people

http://www.uiweb.com/issues/issue28.htm
What follows is some advice for managers on how to manager people, especially talented people. I worked for nine years at Microsoft, sometimes managing projects, sometimes managing people, but always with a manager above me. I think I’m smart, but many of the people who have worked for me definitely were. Over the years I’ve experienced many mistakes and successes in both how I was managed, and how I managed others. What follows is a short distillation of some of what I’ve learned. There's no one way to manage people, but there are some approaches that I think most good managers share.
